Meet Marilyn!

Meet Marilyn!
marilyn-bunyak

Marilyn Bunyak is a member of the 552 Club, a group of volunteers and donors dedicated to promoting and financially supporting Hoag.

For Marilyn Bunyak, having more access to Hoag closer to home is great news. As a Huntington Beach resident, Marilyn is pleased that Hoag Health Center-Huntington Beach (HHC-HB) is undergoing a significant upgrade that will double its capacity and bring new services to the Huntington Beach community.

As 552 Club members for more than two decades, Marilyn and her late husband, Ron, were inspired years ago to support Hoag in their estate plan.

"I think the doctors are excellent and the nurses are so caring," she says. "As a nonprofit, I think they can use all the help they can get. I'm delighted to support Hoag."

Marilyn's Journey

Ron and Marilyn were happily married for 40 years when he passed away in 1996. Both were born in Farrell, Pa., where they met just as he was leaving to attend Purdue. They married soon after he finished college and both began working for Douglas Missiles and Space, which later became McDonnell Douglas. While living in southern California, Ron was transferred to Cape Kennedy for three years, working on the Apollo Lunar Landing program. Then they returned to southern California and relocated to Huntington Beach.

A longtime volunteer, Marilyn spent more than 15 years on the board of the Huntington Harbour Republican Women Federated and Pacific Harbor Republican Women Federated, where she held several offices such as secretary, treasurer and membership secretary. These days, this busy and active lady enjoys her bowling league and playing Bunco with her circle of friends. She also enjoys attending plays and traveling.
